Greetings. My name is Hugo Donnelly, a 19 year-old English Literature undergraduate. I believe in the power of literature. I believe it is one of our most important tools to discover what it means to be human, illuminating our brightest ambitions and revealing our darkest, rawest desires.
To read is to experience something unique, as you climb into the skin of another being and momentarily view the world from their perspective. Can literature change the world? I’m not sure. Though I think it acts simultaneously as a window that we look through into another world and a mirror to reflect on ourselves.
I created the Modern Classic blog for a way to share and exchange ideas with you. I write and publish essays, interviews, stories, poems and experiences that I find interesting. I’m glad you are joining me on this intellectual journey. I find the most interesting questions those that are most difficult to answer, when you’re confronted with a battle, rather than a resolution.
